POW! WOW! Festival is the best known street art festival in the world. It started on the outskirts of Hawaii, transforming a grey suburb into a beloved open air gallery. After several successful editions on the island, the festival spread to other cities worldwide. In 2018, its very first European edition was held to much acclaim, with Rotterdam as its proud host!

From 6 – 13 September 2020, POW! WOW! Rotterdam will return to the Afrikaanderwijk neighborhood with its third edition to once again provide many colorful murals. Despite the global COVID-19 pandemic, the organization wants to give street art fans what they normally look for when visiting POW! WOW! Rotterdam: beautiful art in the outdoor space.

The 2020 line-up will only consist of artists who are currently living in the Netherlands. “That does not prevent us from realizing a lot of beautiful art again in the south side of Rotterdam. The level of artists in the Netherlands is sky-high,” says festival director Dave Vanderheijden.

Next to murals the artist also work with intervention art, that blends in perfectly with its surroundings and creates new situations or thoughts. In addition to the murals and intervention art, visitors can visit unique exhibitions in temporarily vacant houses in the Afrikaanderwijk, which are called 55 TIMES 5. 20 VANS 30 CANS, in which twenty vehicles are painted, will be back by popular demand.
