It’s a popular past-time to criticise the wealthy these days – as evidenced by the Labour Party’s election campaign! – but this weekend’s Sunday Times will see the publication of its annual Rich List, and this time it will shine a light on Britain’s top 260 philanthropists.
The annual Giving List, produced in association with the Charities Aid Foundation, will show that the sum total donated to good causes by the UK’s wealthiest philanthropists has risen during the last 12 months by 20%, leading to a staggering record total of £3.2 billion being donated.
Says CAF’s Joanna Walker: “Major donors are making a huge contribution to charities and achieving amazing things. Their importance cannot be overstated. The huge contribution of Britain’s philanthropists makes it possible for charities to do vital work which has a lasting impact improving lives.”
