Children’s charity Barnardo’s has launched a new ‘Fashion For All’ campaign to raise awareness of its range of pre-loved clothing and accessories.
The charity has teamed up with a host of famous faces to show the nation that Barnardo’s is the destination to purchase great quality, great value pre-loved fashion and accessories.
Stars including TV presenter Donna Air, TOWIE’s Lydia Bright, plus-size model Felicity Hayward, and The Saturday’s band member Vanessa White have posed for the camera in a variety of chic pre-loved outfits to launch the campaign.
Singer Vanessa was keen to lend her support to the campaign, saying: “I absolutely love going to charity shops – some of my favourite pieces are from the charity shop and I love that it’s sustainable and better for the planet.”
On taking part in the campaign, Lydia Bright said: “I am very excited to be shooting with Barnardo’s – it’s a charity which is very close to my heart.
‘My parents are foster parents and have been for most of my life, so to be an ambassador for a fostering charity is a complete honour, and I know very well how used their services are and how important they are to children and families within the care system.”
According to new research commissioned by the charity, shoppers are becoming increasingly mindful of the rising cost of living and, as a result, 40% of women admitted they are likely to shop more for fashion bargains in charity shops.
The new research also shows the top reasons for purchasing pre-loved fashion from charity shops include:
- Saving money (61 per cent)
- The thrill of finding a bargain (60 per cent)
- Concerns around the effect of fast fashion on the environment (42 per cent)
Just over half of those surveyed said they are proud to tell others the clothes and accessories they wear were charity shop purchases. 12% said they are regulars in their local charity shops, visiting at least once a fortnight.
Sharon Goswami, Barnardo’s head of retail operations, said: “We’re delighted to be supported by such a diverse group of celebrities and influencers who champion second-hand fashion and circularity within the fashion industry.
“With this summer being a bit more ‘normal’ than in recent years, there has never been a better time to support your local charity shop to hunt for that perfect outfit.
“Pre-loved fashion and accessories have a place in every wardrobe and Barnardo’s is the perfect place to shop for them, whilst supporting us in our quest to raise vital funds to support vulnerable children, young people, and families across the UK.”
