Crocs Launch Cowboy Boots – And Splits The Internet

Crocs has unveiled their latest design, shin-high cowboy boots complete with spurs, and the internet can’t decide if they are fun and funky – or a total fashion faux-pas.

The boots – which the company said was motivated by the brand’s fanbase – launch on October 23 and will be only on sale for a limited time in stores and online.

A statement from the footwear brand said: “For years, the buzz around a Crocs-inspired cowboy boot has been building, creating a genuine fan-fuelled movement trending across social media. Recognising this passion, Crocs is making fan dreams come true, turning the Crocs Classic Cowboy Boot into a reality.”

The fake leather boots are bendable and feature intricate stitching, a scaly finish and the trademark Crocs foam handle wrapped around the base of the shoe.

Crocs were once considered “the world’s ugliest shoes”, although they had a resurgence in popularity during the pandemic lockdown. The new Wild West style of boots has divided opinion and fashionistas have been taking to social media, with some criticising the design, and others who can’t wait to get their hands on a pair.

“Why…why do I not hate these?” one person asked, while another said: “Crocs came out with cowboy boots! Someone take my money!”

Others were not as keen on the new style of boots with one social media user posting: “Crocs released cowboy boots. That’s enough internet for today.”

Others called the boot an “abomination”, and another commenter said, “Fashion is dead. This is criminal.” So, while not for everyone, it seems the boots are still expected to be a hit with fans of the brand.

Crocs’ new release comes in conjunction with the brand’s “Croctober” celebration, where the company offers a special style every year during October. Usually, the exclusive design is said to be inspired by their dedicated following.

Among the company’s notable releases are a slew of collaborations with name brands and celebrities. The Palace x Crocs offering ditched the known structure associated with the foam footwear for a slide with prints representative of the Skateboard brand.
