Budget supermarket, Aldi, is relaunching its Wine Club – and is looking for thirty wine lovers to taste and review its brand batch of wines.
The lucky Wine Club members will receive a free selection of Aldi’s latest tipples – and in return they’ll be asked to share their honest reviews of the wines across their Instagram or Twitter pages, using the dedicated #AldiWineClub hashtag.
There are only thirty places available, and the chosen members will receive three bottles from Aldi’s award-winning wine range, which will need to be consumed over a six-week period.
Aldi will also share tips on how the handpicked Wine Club members should store the wine and a set of tasting notes from Sam Caporn, also known as the Mistress of Wine and the face of the Aldi Wine School, for maximum enjoyment.
Tips from the experts include ensuring the wine you plan to taste is kept somewhere that has a constant, cool temperature – and smelling the wine before it is tasted.
Sam Caporn, who is a regular on BBCs Saturday Kitchen, said: “It’s a really important step of the wine tasting process as aroma and taste equal flavour.
“Smelling wine releases the aromas and helps you to identify different flavours that your tongue might not pick up.
“Gently swirl the glass just before to make it easier to pick up on your favourite wine flavours that your taste buds alone won’t be able to pick up.”
To apply, wine enthusiasts will need to tell the supermarket their social media handles, the number of followers they have and 150 words explaining why they think they should be selected as an Aldi Wine Club member – and what their favourite wine is – and why they enjoy it.
Aldi shoppers and vino lovers should visit the store’s website to apply to become a member – and have until March 13 to send in an entry. The lucky winners will receive a selection of wines from the supermarket’s Spring / Summer range in return for a 140-character Tweet or Instagram review of each bottle.
