With the latest Royal Wedding just days aware, teetotal revellers can celebrate the union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a special edition drink from Malvern-based Holywell Spring Water.
Available from just one week from the big day on Saturday 19 May, two editions will be on sale, offering a healthier way to celebrate a very modern royal bride and groom.
The limited edition bottles are labelled Markle Sparkle sparkling water and Still Harry, which is described as ‘non-sparkling but still exciting in its own way’.
The special editions continue a royal tradition for Malvern spring water, which is renowned for its purity, winning it royal approval over the centuries. Queen Elizabeth I is said to have drunk Malvern spring water in public.
Malvern spring water was first offered for sale at the Great Exhibition in 1851, and Queen Victoria, the monarch at the time, refused to travel without it.
Princess Mary of Adelaide and King George V both gave it a royal warrant while Prince Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, is also reported to have taken it travelling with her.
Commenting on the wedding water, Simon Smith on behalf of Visit The Malverns, said: “Malvern grew up around its water and the Victorian water cure. We have over 150 wells throughout the area that people can visit and a great local business supplying Malvern Spring Water. With nine places called Malvern in the USA, we think this Anglo-American union deserves a celebratory special version of The Malverns finest bottled water.”
