I’ve been thinking about this a lot, not just Star Wars related, but passion or obsession related. You hear about the Man Cave or the Pink Shed (seriously?!) – the supposed sanctuary where you can hide away and embrace your passions, surrounded by your collections, living out your childhood fantasies in seclusion and separation from the rest of your family.
But, what if there was a way to infiltrate your prized collections into every day life, what if the most disliked objects could be repurposed, and what if new things could make their way into your home, firing your passion but under the cloak (Darth Vader’s cloak, obviously) of another purpose?
Well, we’ll have to give it a go, but I think I might be on to something here!
Darth Vader mug or contemporary ceramic vase?
Look at those modernist angles, that geometric style, that nod to the mid-century modern. Sleek, monotone and practical – stick a pretty plant in him, he’s done!
‘Not such a menace now, are you mate?!’
Chewbacca plush toy or draft excluder starter kit?
‘What’s that, you’re still getting a draft? Well, we’re just going to have to collect them all!’ you exclaimed with badly hidden glee.
Need to add an on-trend update to that classic Hermes silk? I can almost guarantee you’ll be the only one wearing these powerful statement pieces.
‘May the force be with you? It’s a motivational quote, a mantra for modern living, an ‘in’ reference to green smoothies, yeah, you look great!’
Thermos food jar or mini champagne cooler ?
‘You totes deserve a little pop of bubbly, so I’ll just put this here, in this fabulous stainless steel cooler – I made sure it colour coordinated with your Moet, I hope you like it!’
Thanks to Latest Buy for humouring me on this… I’m sold on that draft excluder, what about you?!
