Norwich & Peterborough brand to go after 157 years

After providing financial services to the residents of East Anglia for more than a century and a half, the familiar Norwich & Peterborough branches are set to disappear from the High Street as new owners’ Yorkshire Building Society progressively close them down or re-brand them during the summer.

YBS have confirmed that 28 Norwich & Peterborough branches will close in September while a further 20 YBS branches will close in May. The remaining 17 Norwich & Peterborough branches will be re-branded as YBS. In the meantime, N&P will be contacting their 100,000 account holders, advising them that current accounts will be closed down on 31 August 2017, giving them time to make alternative arrangements.

For the future, YBS plans to concentrate on the business of savings and mortgages.
