One Careful Royal Owner… Prince Harry’s Audi RS6 for Sale on Auto Trader

Internet auction site eBay may be a popular choice for finding second hand cars, but it appears that the once-dominant Auto Trader is still popular with old money.

Indeed, the editorial team at the classified magazine-turned trading website is proud to host an advert for one of Prince Harry’s collection. The newlywed Prince may well be putting his wild days behind him with the impending sale of his 550bhp Audi RS6 estate.

The RS6 has a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds, which may well have helped him and then-fiancée Meghan Markle get to Pippa Middleton’s wedding reception in Bucklebury on time in May last year. Not only is it the more practical estate model, it also has the Quattro four-wheel-drive transmission fitted, so road safety-conscious royal watchers needn’t have had the jitters.

Whilst 4,500 miles on the clock may seem little, bear in mind that the Prince, who certainly has many travel options, has only owned this car for a year. So it’s seen a fair bit of action, indeed HRH is known to be a keen petrolhead.

The Audi RS6 4.0 Avant Tiptronic Quattro 5dr is up for a cool £71,900, but it has been packed with over £11,000 of hand-picked extras, taking it up to around £103,000 new. Options include a panoramic sunroof, privacy glass, plus military-style heads-up display and night vision assist. It also has a sports exhaust to distinguish it from the whisper-quiet Rolls-Royces often associated with the Royal Family. And the speed limiter has been removed according to the advert…

Auto Trader reports that no corgi hairs have been found on the honeycomb-stitched valcona leather interiors.

Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, said: “This is a smashing car perfectly suited to any aspiring Royal. The Audi RS6 Avant is one of the fastest estate cars on the market doing 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, and it has a roaring exhaust to excite any petrolhead.”

“The car boasts a 17 registration and low mileage, so it begs the questions why is the Prince selling so soon? Maybe he’s on the market for a bigger family car, in which case we’d recommend a Skoda Superb, which won the best family car in our recent New Car Awards, or maybe he’s after an electric car, having driven Meghan away after their wedding in an electric Jag?.”
