UK Vineyard Named ‘One of the Most Beautiful in the World’

A new study has named the world’s most beautiful wine regions and vineyards – and while the UK is not best-known for wine production, a vineyard in Sussex has made it into the top twenty.

The report by luxury travel brand CV Villas analysed Instagram data to pinpoint the most beautiful vineyards across the globe.

CV Villas said that when it comes to the world’s most beautiful vineyards, a different set of factors were considered: “By taking a long list of vineyards from all around the globe, we ran their names through Instagram to see which ones have been shared the most on the social media platform.”

The vineyard claiming the prize as the most beautiful in the world is Boschendal, in South Africa’s Cape Wineland district. It is one of the country’s oldest wine estates dating back to 1685.

Over the past 100 years, this region has continually developed its wine offering – from Chardonnay to a complex Sauvignon Blanc – and has also started to offer wine tours, a farm shop, hiking tours, fruit picking, and so much more.

Nyetimber Vineyard, in West Chiltington, West Sussex took the 18th spot. The vineyard is owned by Dutch businessman Eric Heerema, who acquired the farm in 2003, but Nyetimber has been producing sparkling wines since the late 1980s.

At 438 acres, Nyetimber is not just the most beautiful vineyard in the UK, but also the largest. Wine lovers can book a unique wine-tasting tour of the historic Nyetimber Estate sampling the sparkling wines that they are famed for.

Wine holidays are growing in popularity, with Google searches for ‘wine holiday’ and ‘vineyard tours’ up 22% and 50% respectively in the year. If you are keen to experience the best destinations for enjoying wine, here are the regions and vineyards to add to your list:
